Treatment options
Advances in research are occurring at a faster rate than ever before and continue to add to our understanding of multiple sclerosis (MS). Although there are not yet treatments that can cure MS, there are therapies that can help people with MS manage their day to day symptoms, treat an attack (relapse) if it occurs, as well as treatments that help prevent relapses of MS and delay the progression of the condition.
Treatment options for MS fall into three main categories:
- Treatment for the underlying course of the condition (disease-modifying treatments)
- Treatment of relapses
- Treatment of day to day symptoms
This section of the website gives an overview of medical treatments currently available for MS.
